Whiteout Survival vs Kingshot: how to tell which game a guide is describing

The two games are twins. Same publisher, same support domain, same event skeleton under different words — and a great deal of what is written about one is quietly describing the other. Here is how to check in three seconds, and every check on this page is cited.

Why this page exists

This is the one page on this site permitted to name the other game. Everywhere else, a build gate fails automatically if its vocabulary appears, because sources that cannot keep the two apart are the main way wrong information reaches a page that looks careful. If you found this site because a guide told you something that did not match your screen, this page is probably the reason.

The three-second check: the hero rosters do not overlap

You do not have to trust us for this one. Century Games publishes a character list for each game on its own site, and there is not a single name in common.

A "Whiteout Survival" tier list that names Helga or Amadeus is describing Kingshot. That is the whole check, and it takes longer to read than to run.

The three words that never cross

A word census across all 48 sections of Century Games' Kingshot help centre — a little over a million characters of rendered text, read 2026-09-08 — found kingdom and its plural 555 times and governor 139 times. It found chief zero times and furnace zero times. The single appearance of "state" is ordinary English, in a sentence about restoring an account to its state before a match.

On the Whiteout side, the publisher's own help centre uses State and Chief throughout its transfer and state pages, and Furnace on its pet page.

So: Chief, Furnace and State on one side; Governor, Town Center and Kingdom on the other. This is not a stylistic preference between fan sites. The publisher's two support sites do not share these three words at all.

The counterpart map

Almost every system exists in both games under a different name. This is the layer that catches rewritten guides: somebody can swap "kingdom" for "state" in one pass, but they will not rename Flamedragon Tyrant or Water Essence. Every row below is publisher-to-publisher — the Whiteout name from the Whiteout help centre, the Kingshot name from the Kingshot one.

The sharpest tell is one word

Century Games names the identical system twice, one word apart. In Whiteout Survival it is Hero Gear Ascension and Empowerment. In Kingshot it is Hero Gear Ascension and Imbuement. Both games use Mithril; both help centres carry a "What is Mithril?" article. Empowerment against Imbuement is the entire difference, and it is the fastest way to place a guide that has been careful about the obvious nouns.

Words that are shared — and are therefore not tells

The other way to be wrong is to treat a shared word as evidence. The publisher uses all of these in both help centres: Bear Hunt, Alliance, Alliance Championship, Alliance Mobilization, Castle Battle, Combat FAQ, Pet System, Fishing Tournament, Enlistment Office, Mithril, Gear Ascension, Transfer Pass, Special Invites and Ordinary Invites, Squad Power, Personal Points, Hero Shards, Supreme Chambers, Island Prosperity.

Three more look like tells and are not:

The settings are different fiction

Whiteout Survival is a glacial catastrophe that has wiped out all technology; its resources are Meat, Wood, Coal and Iron and its map is the ice field, and the store calls it the world's original winter-themed mobile game. Kingshot asks you to battle rebels, rescue refugees and rekindle the flame of civilisation in a dark era, and to train soldiers to defend the town.

Any "Whiteout Survival" guide about rebels, refugees or rekindling civilisation is Kingshot copy.

Why the confusion is structural rather than careless

Both games sit on one publisher index, share terms of service, privacy policy and support domain, and run the same event skeleton under different nouns. The systems genuinely are twins; only the vocabulary separates them. That is why the check that works is the vocabulary and the counterpart map, and why "alliance" — a word both games use constantly — proves nothing either way.

What we do not know yet

Three comparisons are one-sided, and they are listed rather than guessed at. Kingshot's alliance rank names have not been read from its help centre. Its counterpart for progression past the main building has not been established from any capture. Its troop tier scheme has not been read. Each of those would be easy to fill in from memory and each would be exactly the kind of confident, sourceless claim this page exists to argue against.

If you can source any of them from the publisher, tell us and the page gets longer.

Where these readings come from

Every difference above was read from Century Games' own pages on 2026-09-08 and kept: the Whiteout Survival help centre, the Kingshot help centre, the publisher's game pages for Whiteout Survival and Kingshot, and the Google Play listing. Nothing here is reproduced from those pages; each difference is stated in our own words with the source named. How we verify describes the rest of the process.
